GUNGOREN WHOLESALE FASHION DISTRICT

Güngören is home to hundreds of fast-fashion womenswear wholesalers. If you’re looking for a bargain and have a small start-up budget, then this district is the perfect starting point!! Think of fast-fashion brands such as Fashionova, Prettylittlething, Missguided and Shein. In this district,you will find the exact same styles of clothing with prices starting from as little as $3 for crop tops, $8 for jeans, and $10 for dresses. Güngören is also known for its high-quality gymwear suppliers. For those looking to dive into the athleisurewear market, this is the perfect starting point, You will find sports bras, leggings, tracksuits, hoodies and more, with prices ranging from $4-$10. But as many of you know, cheap products also runs the risk of poor quality garments. Though it may be great to find cheap wholesale products, you may need to consider the number of customer returns you’ll receive. In my previous post on starting a fashion brand, I do stress the importance of price points and selling good quality clothing. You don’t want to be known as a fashion brand that has great e-commerce images but poor-quality apparel.

That’s not to say Güngören sells poorly designed items, there are a number of vendors in this district producing high-quality products. However many vendors here are a hit-and-miss, it’s therefore imperative to cross-examine each vendor before purchasing your stock. Güngören will take roughly two days to see all the suppliers, as it serves as the smallest wholesale district out of the four. The only downside is most wholesalers in Güngören do not speak English, you may find only 40% of vendors speak basic English, whereas the majority can’t. This is the barrier you will face when communicating with Güngören wholesalers. You may find it easier to hire a translator or sourcing agent to help with purchasing your stock. I would highly recommend hiring a turkish sourcing agent or using google translate. Güngören is also known for its high-quality denimwear. Prices start from $6 for denim jeans and $10 for denim jackets. Think of brands as ASOS, ZARA, and NA-KD, you will find the same style of denimwear if not better.

MODESTWEAR

For those starting modest fashion brands or catering to Muslim consumers. Güngören is another great wholesale district for all things Islamic fashion. You can find amazing long sleeve tunics and tops, maxi dresses, and even abayas. Unlike Merter the prices for modestwear are far cheaper, with dresses starting from as little as $10, kaftans starting from $15, and shirts as cheap as $6. Many vendors also stock plus-size modestwear, so if you are a plus-size fashion brand or boutique I would highly recommend coming to this district.

Transportation

If you plan on coming to Güngören you will need to take the T1 tram heading towards Bağcılar and get off at Güngören. The wholesalers are a 2-minute walk away and the same tram takes also goes to the Merter and Laleli wholesale districts. Merter is only 5 minutes away from Güngören by car or tram. You can also walk, but I wouldn’t recommend this if you are not familiar with the area.
